The public register of AALA licence holders is a legislative requirement (regulation 13 of The Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations 2004). The register has been publicly available since 1996. There are approximately 1220 provider entries (as of July 2013 – but this fluctuates during the year). The entries on the register include: activity provider details (this can be personal data where the licensee is a sole trader), details of the operating base or centre (this can be personal data where the licensee is a sole trader), contact details (this can be personal data where the licensee is a sole trader), issue and expiry dates of the licence, activities covered by the licence NB it does not include financial data or information on circumstances. The register covers all licensable activity providers operating in Great Britain. This information is gathered during the licensing process and is available through the AALA pages on HSE’s web site at or directly at http://www.aals.org.uk/aals/provider_search.php
