(south side Bristol Channel) Point 51.2278472819358 -3.63547330291519 WGS84 124154 Crossaster papposus FALSE O Not set FALSE The substratum was of large boulders with pebbles and shingle between and the whole covered by quite a heavy layer of silt. A kelp park was present at -0.5 metres, and red algae were present down to -2 metres but were small and sparse at this depth. Dendrodoa grossularia was the predominant species although Flustra foliacea became more common with depth. The kelp plants had long thin stipes and small fronds and lived no closer than 1 metre apart. Only one or two of the larger plants had significant epiphytic growth. Large boulders supported a variety of encrusting algal species.

Pebbles were dominated by Balanus crenatus and bedrock by Sabellaria spinulosa. A few Sabella pavonina were present in the mud.
