Flat area of pebbles and cobbles on the upper shore, embedded in sediment with a few shallow pools and standing water. Large numbers of Littorina littorea present and the rocks had a covering of Enteromorpha intestinalis in the pools, and patches of Cladophora rupestris. No barnacles seen.

Mid shore fine sand, firm but mobile due to tide action, sparse infauna of occasional Macoma balthica and Corophium volutator, with some small sandy tubes, possibly juv Lanice conchilega. No obvious black layer present.
