Algae dominated by Pelvetia canaliculata,Fucus ceranoides abundant in local distribution only. At MLWS tide level dead shells of Cerastoderma edule common forming substrate for macroalgae particularly Enteromorpha spp. Associated with the algae was a limited crustacean community of Talitrus saltator and Orchesta gammarella. Areas of fine mud/sand supported populations of Bathyporeia pilosa and Eurydice pulchra also some annelids. Dead shell material included Macoma balthica and Tellina tenuis. Abundance scale from Crapp (1973). NOTE: Substratum % data are converted from the original substratum 1-3 scoring system. |

Both Pelvetia canaliculata and Fucus spiralis abundant, with Ascophyllum nodosum and Fucus vesiculosus locally distributed. Associated crustacean communities also present. Balanus balanoides, Patella vulgata and extensive development of large Mytilus edulis all abundant. Littorina obtusata and Littorina littorea both abundant with Littorina saxatalis. Abundance scale from Crapp (1973). NOTE: Substratum % data are converted from the original substratum 1-3 scoring system. |

Lichens has been given a nominal abundance value of Present for this record as in Arev it had no abundance value. Upper littoral habitat a mix of boulders, shingle and gravel. This supports a mixed lichen community, also Pelvetia canaliculata and Fucus spiralis. Ascophyllum nodosum is locally abundant. Balanus balanoides present but at occasional abundance, no Mytulis edulis. Species tolerant of low salinity present such as Littorina saxatalis. Abundant populations of crustaceans under stones and boulders in algal area. Lower part of habitat predominantly fine sand with a mixture of mud. Corophuim volutator dominant species. Other mud species also present. Abundance scale from Crapp (1973). NOTE: Substratum % data are converted from the original substratum 1-3 scoring system. |
