Summary

Management Catchments are the geographical units for which action plans are drafted in implementing the Water framework Directive (WFD). The Artificial Water Management catchments are the groupings of canal and surface water transfers which, by their nature, do not have natural catchments, and often cross surface water catchment boundaries.

These Managment catchments are groupings of canals and surface waters extracted from AfA292-2 WFD River, Canal and SWT Waterbodies Cycle 2. Management catchments are larger units than operational catchments, but created from the same base data sets.

WFD Management Catchments have an action plan published that relates to all waterbodies that fall within its boundaries. Attribution statement: © Environment Agency copyright and/or database right 2016. All rights reserved.
