Environment

This dataset is a GIS layer which shows estimated flood outlines which have been derived from remotely sensed data during a flood incident. These are best estimates based upon what can be seen in the image at the time of image capture. Remotely sensed imagery could be acquired upon a variety of platforms, including satellite and aircraft and at differing resolutions. Generally the finer the resolution, the more detail and confidence there will be in the dataset. We capture, use and share this data with partners during an incident, it is validated, and where appropriate, included in our Recorded Flood Outline records.
