Vertical chalk wall at base of very high cliff. Mixture of filamentous green algae including Enteromorpha spp. and green encrusting slime and filamentous reds and browns appearing similar to Audouinella spp. in patches. Also sparse, very small Fucus spiralis plants. Littorina saxatilis and Littorina neritoides in large numbers with Littorina neglecta out of reach several meters up the cliff face. Some small clumps of Mastocarpus stellatus lower down.

Some patches of rock had cushions of sand trapped with Audouinella spp. Small crevices and vertical faces caused by rock faults increased the species richness, though the shore was not as diverse as would be expected.

Ceramium spp. (superabundant) and Furcellaria lumbricalis (common) dominated these channels. The channels flowed SE across the site. Good algal communities present including Laminaria digitata, Laminaria hyperborea and Laminaria saccharina. A single large plaice was found.

Fucus serratus was the main cover algae with an understorey of Palmaria palmata, Chondrus crispus and Audouinella spp. The abundance of Verruca stroemia was notable.
