DFID is seeking a Service Provider to act as Fund Manager to design and administer the Girls Education Challenge (GEC) Fund over the next four years. DFID is committed to ensuring that every girl and every boy has access to a good quality education but there is a specific need for an additional focus on girls. DFID will invest up to £355 million over four years, with the potential to extend for a further four years, to ensure that girls overcome the unique gender specific obstacles they face to enrolling, remaining in school and learning. Through this fund DFID will enable approximately 660,000 marginalised girls to complete a full six year cycle of primary education or approximately 1 million girls to complete a three year cycle of junior secondary school. Full detail of the Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) Fund can be found in the Business Case on DFID’s website www.dfid.gov.uk
