DFID PO 5345:
DFID is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for a service provider (SP) to design and implement a market development programme. The objective of the Market Assistance Programme (MAP) is to improve the performance of key markets that are important for poor people in Kenya. The assignment will involve encouraging and developing systemic change in weak value chain performance. The SP is expected to identify key market systems or sub-sectors where interventions will be implemented which result in sustainable and significant job creation, incomes growth and poverty reduction among both men and women. The programme and approach will be supporting Goals 4 and 5 of Kenya Government Private Sector Development Strategy by improving productivity, small and micro enterprises, and entrepreneurship development. The SP will work to form and support the 3 outputs, namely: the SP will work in market systems agreed upon with DFID guided by growth potential, relevance to poor people and sustainability; creation of at least 400,000 new jobs and 10% annual increase in incomes of 100,000 households at the end of MAP; significant increase in perceptions and usage of a market approach. The contract will run for five years with possibility of up to two years extension.General management consultancy services.
