Farmers income from public sources

Status:
Closed
Outcome:
Data already available
Notes:

The data requested is in the public domain at http://www.farmbusinesssurvey.co.uk/regional/Farming-England-Regions-Rep... 9 shows output split between agriculture, agri-environment schemes, diversification and the Basic Payment Scheme and can be selected for each region and farm type. There are not enough farms in some farm types to show a regional breakdown (e.g. pigs). The BPS and agri-environment payments are all funded by the EU.

The data can be downloaded into excel for any further manipulation and to calculate percentages but we wouldn’t recommend calculating percentages for negative values (e.g. agriculture’s contribution to Farm Business Income for a number of farm types).

Data request description:
Details of farm incomes split between value of farm gate sales and receipts from public funds including BPS, and environmental schemes. The data to be spilt by main agricultural sector i.e. Arable, Dairy, Livestock, Horticulture etc and also geographically preferably by county. Also to be included are sources of funds from both EU and UK sources. The data should show each source of income as both a cash figure and as a percentage of the total.
Reason:
Other
Suggested use:
Personal Use
Ultimately I would like to write an article for publication to discuss farm finances after 2022.
Benefits overview:
Farming without EU subsidies is going to be a major issue for U.K. agriculture and having the requested sectoral and geographic split of this information will help highlight the challenges which the industry must now address.
