Dataset: Domestic Energy Performance Certificate Register

Energy Performance Certificates

Online access to individual EPCs is here: EPC Registers.

The Open Data User Group has produced a benefits case for open release of the EPC datasets (both domestic and non-domestic).

It's debatable whether the domestic EPC register contains any significant personal data. If that isn't a barrier to putting the individual certificates online and making extracts available for a fee, it's difficult to see why it should be a barrier to release of the dataset under an open data licence.

Support for data request

We would also like to see this data made available. We would use it to make it easier for our users to estimate and benechmark their energy consumption.

Now there is a facility to

Now there is a facility to lookup the RRN on any address on the official register, surely the argument for the data containing personal information is redundant.

To make it clear no personal details other than the assessor details which are publically on a register are contained on the EPC so this data should be made available without delay.

Is there any update to

Is there any update to releasing this data for commercial purposes?

Could do with this now

This data could help plan a pathway towards a minimum energy efficiency standard in the private rented sector in London of EPC Band C by 2025. I was hoping to work on this today as part of #OpenDataDay. Disappointing to see this is still unpublished, especially given use case linked to from Owen's comment above. Please can we get an update on publish date? Thanks

Why is this valuable dataset siloed with Landmark?

Why is this valuable dataset siloed with Landmark? I don't understand why this rich and live dataset is siloed with a private company. Let's turn this data into an open API to allow anyone to derive value from it.

Dataset: English Local Authority Green belt dataset

Thank you, this data has proved very helpful.  May I ask though if there is a rationale for publishing in WGS84?

CRS

In response to the previous comment, if you edit the srsName parameter in the URL from EPSG:4326 to EPSG:27700, then you can get the data in British National Grid format.

The WMS for this dataset is not showing the whole country (only London area). Must be some problem with the Geoserver set up. Steve Peters at DCLG should be able to fix this.

Technical issues with metadata updating

Jane, we had been having a few technical problems updating our metadata records. I think I've fixed this for now. You can download the data as shapefile, RDF dump and also use it as Linked data (SPARQL quering) here: http://opendatacommunities.org/data/geography/greenbelt

We'll continue to update our metadata records to ensure all of our geography services link together. Bear with us.

Dataset: Sub-regional household population projections

Regional data are not Bad Things after all?

Click through and I find that "sub-regional household projections are less robust than those at the regional level, particularly for those areas with relatively small numbers of households."

I thought that regional data were the statistics that dare not speak their name, according to CLG.  Perhaps a sinner is repenting...

Parking permits and visitor vouchers in Barnet - NW2 6QL

I live in the Borough of Barnet, in an area of Cricklewood known as The Terraces.  I was a resident here between 1988 and 1999 and then again from November 2006. During the intervening years, a CPZ was put in place because of the opening of Beacon Bingo, less than a quarter of a mile away.  The CPZ exists for 13 hours per day, 7 days a week - 9am - 10pm Monday - Sunday.

Barnet has informed us that our parking permit will be rising from £40 to £100 ( a 250% increase) and that visitor vouchers will rise from £1 to £4 (a 400% increase) from 1 April 2011.  How can these sort of rises be justified?  Not only are they completely unfair but it is the poorer residents of the Borough who are suffering as we cannot afford houses with driveways where both us and our visitors could park. We have also learnt that some people with driveways are now hiring out parking spaces to commuters.

Furthermore, there is no single window for anyone to visit us (because we are sick, perhaps) or to give us a quote for work to be undertaken, for example, for half an hour or so, when we would not have to provide a Visitor Voucher.  At £4 a voucher, this will only serve to marginalise our community.

Brian Coleman, of Barnet Council, was quoted as saying that: "It was a privilege to live in a CPZ".  I hardly think so and I am greatly concerned as to the hardship this will cause me and my neighbours.

I cannot get any of the links to work. Has your Data Publisher still not sorted it out after 9 weeks? But maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks for your post.  A number of the links appear to have been rectified (for example the CSV file and XML links) however I have followed up with the data publisher and requested an update - we will update this thread when we hear some more.
