Survey name: 2002 English Nature (EN) Isle of Wight intertidal reef survey This is a collation of surveys to gather data and evidence from a variety of marine environments. The survey purposes vary and include recommended Marine Conservation Zone (rMCZ) Phase I or II verification surveys, condition assessments, surveys of features of Natura 2000 sites (Special Area of Conservation, Special Protection Area), Intertidal surveys, Benthic grab surveys and others. "As part of English Natures rolling SSSI notification programme, Hanover Point to St Catherine's Point SSSI on the south coast of the Isle of Wight is being put forward for renotification and extension from St Catherine's Point and Ventnor.aim of this survey was to classify and map the distribution of intertidal reef habitat found along the coastline between Freshwater Bay and St Catherine's Point on the south coast of the Wight, OS Grid Ref: SZ 343855 to SZ 507755 from mean high water springs to mean low water springs. dThe survey followed standard MNCR methodology for littoral habitats. All conspicuous species were identified in situ, although a comprehensive species list was not the objective. Habitats and data were matched to the UK biotopes classification (Conner et al 1997). Biotopes were mapped on to OS landline sheets. dspecies data from three sites was entered as report was missing appendices. d"
