Abstract

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) species data held on the National Biodiversity Network (NBN) Atlas. This includes marine, terrestrial and freshwater species records for a variety of taxonomic groups. Data was collected to support core NRW functions including statutory and non-statutory reporting, condition monitoring and decision making. The NBN data portal is the main route for the publishing NRW species data. Details of each NRW species data can be viewed through the NBN Atlas.

Lineage

Species data is extracted from NRWs biological databases including; Recorder 6, Marine Recorder and KiEco (previously held in BioSys). The data held on the NBN Atlas is made up of a number of datasets, further information about each of these datasets can be found through the Atlas. All records are made available to the public at a resolution of 100m under an Open Government Licence (OGL), apart from those deemed environmentally sensitive, which can be made available on request via the NBN Atlas request process.
