Doxford Masterplan

Abstract

The purpose of this Masterplan is to ensure that the Local Planning Authority has sufficient information on which to make a decision on the key design principles of the Doxford development and once the masterplan has been endorsed by the City Council’s Cabinet, to formally adopt the document as Interim Planning Policy.

The purpose of this Masterplan is to provide a framework for the redevelopment of the Mill Hill Estate, Doxford Park. In the absense of relevant up-to-date Development Plan Document (DPD) policy, Sunderland City Council intends to bring this Masterplan forward on non-statutory basis as Interim Supplementary Planning Document (ISPD). It is anticipated that the ISPD will be converted to a SPD at a time when an appropriate DPD policy has been adopted. This approach has been taken to wnsure a framework is in place against which planning applications for development within the Estate can be assessed.
