Artificial Coastal Defences
Artificial sea front defences were digitised around the coast of Scotland, for use in informing on pre-existing coastal protection and in limiting the amount of erosion predicted as part of the Dynamic Coast FutureCoast shorelines. High resolution aerial imagery was used to identify and manually digitise artificial sea front defences (sea walls, harbours, rock armour, gabions) as lines in planform view. Pre-existing coastal defence datasets sourced from participating local authorities (© Dumfries and Galloway Council 2020) were also combined with the manually digitised lines. • Scottish Government Lidar for Scotland Phase 1 o (https://www.spatialdata.gov.scot/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/40017f89-2857-49cb-a913-e0784f250769); o Crown copyright Scottish Government, SEPA and Scottish Water (2012). o OGL • Scottish Government Lidar for Scotland Phase 2 o (https://www.spatialdata.gov.scot/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/2835f36d-35cf-4166-9bf0-09b3fc839f62); o Copyright Scottish Government and SEPA (2014). o OGL • Scottish Government Lidar for Scotland Phase 3 o (https://www.spatialdata.gov.scot/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/f1a18c6d-3f1b-46bb-a5eb-58e5f504c7cb); o Crown copyright Scottish Government, SEPA and Fugro (2020). o OGL • Scottish Enterprise Lidar o © Scottish Enterprise 2003 • Scottish Natural Heritage Lidar – Western Isles o © Environment Agency, SNH 2005/2006; o OGL • University of Glasgow Terrestrial Laser Scan o © University of Glasgow 2014; • Environment Agency Lidar o © EA 2015; • Caledonian Air Surveys Limited 50cm (Commissioned by SNH) o © SNH/CASL 2016; • Historic Environment Scotland Terrestrial Laser Scan and Aerial Lidar within Bay of Skaill o © HES 2016-2018; • OS Aerial Photography o © OS 2011-2019;
