Abstract

This raster dataset represents the thickness in metres of the Carboniferous Fell Sandstone Formation (Mid Border Group) in the Northumberland-Solway Basin. The maps are provided in raster format at a 100 m resolution.

This thickness map for the Fell Sandstone Formation in the Northumberland-Solway Basin was digitised from contour data from the Northumberland-Solway memoir (1995 ISBN 0 11 884501 2) and interpolated in a GIS using the spline with barriers method. The outcrop extents were updated and limited deep well data were used additionally.
