Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Mineral Safeguarding Areas - Brick and Clay Only
The adopted Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Minerals and Waste Core Strategy (2011) designate Mineral Safeguarding Areas (MSA) for deposits of brick clay. MSA cover resources that are considered to be of current or future economic importance, they seek to prevent this mineral resource being needlessly sterilised by non-mineral development. The designation triggers a requirement for district councils to consult the County Council as the Mineral Planning Authority on planning applications received by them for development in MSA; and policy criteria must be met prior to the development being permitted.
