National Parks are run by National Park Authorities for the purpose of conserving and enhancing the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage and to provide opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the Park by the public.
North York Moors National Park was designated 28/11/1952.
This is the boundary that the authority uses as it's planning area boundary and has been re-aligned to take account of Ordnance Survey's Positional Accuracy Improvement base mapping. Recorded as a single polygon.

All data is captured to the Ordnance Survey National Grid sometimes called the British National Grid. OS MasterMap Topographic Layer – produced and supplied by Ordnance Survey from data at 1:1250, 1:2500 and 1:10000 surveying and mapping standards - is used as the primary source. Other sources – acquired internally and from external suppliers - may include aerial imagery, Ordnance Survey 1:10000 raster images, historical OS mapping, scanned images of paper designation mapping (mostly originally produced at 1:10560 or 1:10000 scales), GPS and other surveyed data, and absolute coordinates. Positional accuracy improvement (PAI) was applied to the dataset in 2006. The original designation map is a 1:1 inch hand drawn boundary with a written description.
