Lineage

The primary aim of this project was to collect field data on the numbers of elasmobranchs of both commercial and conservation interest (porbeagle *Lamna nasus* , common skate *Dipturus batis* ‘complex’ and spurdog *Squalus acanthias* ) taken as bycatch in commercial net (gill, trammel and tangle) fisheries off Cornwall (ICES Division VIIe-h), and their survivability (health condition prior to discarding). Two commercial netters (FV “Charisma” and FV “Govenek of Ladram”) were chartered to undertake field studies between August 2011 and March 2012.
