Survey name: 2007 Natural England Survey of Leptopsammia pruvoti populations at Lundy This is a collation of surveys to gather data and evidence from a variety of marine environments. The survey purposes vary and include recommended Marine Conservation Zone (rMCZ) Phase I or II verification surveys, condition assessments, surveys of features of Natura 2000 sites (Special Area of Conservation, Special Protection Area), Intertidal surveys, Benthic grab surveys and others. "Survey of the sunset cup coral Leptopsammia pruvoti population at Lundy. Fieldwork was carried out by a 5-man dive team over three days from 4th to 6th September 2007. project had the following as its main aim and objectives: dTo undertake a survey of the known Leptopsammia pruvoti population at Lundy in order to assess the population extent, its abundance and condition. To identify any recent recruitment in the populations. dTo compare the present population with assessments that have been previously undertaken and assess change in population size and condition over time. Search efforts were concentrated at three main sites: the Knoll Pins, Gannets Rock Pinnacle and Anchor Pinnacle. In situ diver counts of Leptopsammia pruvoti individuals were conducted at each of these sites. In addition, three sites at the Knoll Pins (Knoll Pins Cave, Knoll Pins East and Knoll Pins South) and one site at Gannets Rock Pinnacle were photographed using a digital stills camera and ensuring images overlapped. A standard recording methodology for the in situ counts was developed with slight modifications for each location.total of 954 Leptopsammia pruvoti individuals (1%) were recorded from the three sites: the Knoll Pins (703), Gannets Rock Pinnacle (189) and Anchor Pinnacle (62)."
