English Heritage maintains a Register of Historic Battlefields. This is not a statutory list, but any sites on it are a material consideration in the planning process. Currently there are only two battlefield sites in Cheshire included in the Register: the Battle of Nantwich 1644 and the Battle of Rowton Heath (Chester) 1645. The Register is periodically reviewed by English Heritage and additions made. This dataset is updated by the Cheshire Historic Environment Record as soon as possible after the notification of a new site is received. Indicates the central point of a Registered Battlefield polygon. This is particularly useful when Registered Battlefields need to be depicted on maps at scales in excess of 1:10,000. Each feature contains within its entry in the attribute table hyperlinks for use with ArcGIS and WebGIS to the designation record of that asset published on Revealing Cheshire's Past, an online version of the HER database which makes a subset of the HER data available online.
