Local Nature Reserves
LNR's
Local Nature Reserves (or LNRs) are for both people and wildlife. They are places with wildlife or geological features that are of special interest locally, which give people special opportunites to study and learn about them or simply enjoy and have contact with nature. Local Nature Reserves are a statutory designation made under Section 21 of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 by principal local authorities. Proposed sites are included as these also have some planning protection.

Data digitised in ArcGIS based on information from the Parks and Open Spaces team. The dataset is updated as new sites are designated, including sites being converted from proposed to existing LNR. The corporate GIS database is then updated, and the data is processed into open data formats.
