Stakeholder surveys to local farmers and officials in Chinese villages to understand knowledge management dynamics
Data comprise results of social surveys carried out in China during 2016 – 2018 to the local stakeholders (farmers and village to county level officials) to understand their knowledge learning dynamics and preference. Surveys were conducted in the rural villages in Puding County, Guizhou Province and in Yujiang County, Jiangxi Province. The study was funded by the grant NE/N007425/1 which was awarded by the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), and through cooperation with grant 41571130074 awarded by the National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) of China, as part of the UK – China Critical Zone Observatory (CZO). The surveys were conducted to local stakeholders from four levels of governance (county leaders, town leaders, village leaders and individual farmers). The surveyed towns and villages were identified by Chinese research team as locations within or surrounding the studied catchments in the wider CZO program. Questionnaires were used as one of the key methods to fulfil the survey aims. Both closed and open-ended questions were designed for all groups. The number of questionnaires completed in each village was dependent on its population. Information of each survey is detailed in the Supporting Information. Different landscapes and a number of villages were surveyed to improve the rigorous of the searching results. Verbal consent was obtained prior to commencing all interviews. To meet the requirements of the Environmental Information Data Centre the result document was anonymised and converted into Rich Text Format (rtf).
