Habitat point records from 1986 BMNH Shakespeare & Abbot's Cliffs (Kent) littoral algal survey
Fifty-eight species of benthic marine algae and 1 marine lichen are recorded. A range of communities colonising supralittoral, upper littoral and lower littoral levels was detected at Abbot's Cliff; midlittoral algal communities were largely absent due to wave-exposure. Midlittoral and lower littoral communities were particularly well developed at Shakespeare Cliff. Different communities were detected on the Gault central area foreshore.
