Abstract

Crab tagging release and recapture data collected from 1968 to 1974. This project applied Petersen disc tags to edible crabs (*Cancer pagurus)* to obtain data that describe and quantify crab movements, growth, mortality and behaviour in the English Channel.

Lineage

Derived from historic paper and spreadsheet records (as part of Cefas project M1103). Recapture data patchy in places and it is recommended that users filter by valid/invalid fields to filter some inconsistent records. Release positions are well defined, however recapture positions less well defined. Quality control issues noted in comments field of recaptured table. Some recaptures outside of specified dates.
