Title

ENV_TREE_PRESERVATION_ORDERS

Abstract

A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) is an Order made by a local planning authority to protect specific trees, groups of trees or woodlands in the interests of amenity. Anyone who contravenes an Order by damaging or carrying out work on a tree protected by an Order without getting the necessary permission from the local planning authority is guilty of an offence and may be fined. Further advice on Tree Preservation Orders and trees in Conservation Areas can be found here http://planningguidance.communities.gov.uk/blog/guidance/tree-preservation-orders/ PLEASE NOTE: The data is correct to the best of the Council's knowledge, but please consult with the Council before carrying out any work on trees you believe to be un-protected. Authorities are advised to keep their TPOs under review and Medway Council regularly make new Orders and may revoke old ones. The data does not include trees protected by Conservation Areas.
