Helping you plan routes, analyse traffic information and optimise journeys. Thanks to OS MasterMap Highways Network with Speed Data, you can also access road speed information through our product. It’s an additional dataset to help you plan logistics and monitor our roads more effectively. Perhaps you're looking for more data about Great Britain's roads? Or maybe you're studying drive times or comparing vehicle types along routes or the impact of a new development? This could be the product for you. We have enhanced our Highways Network family of products with these three speed data additions. Each product is supplied with an additional data file which will be either Average Speed, Speed Limits or a combination of both.

OS MasterMap Highways Network with Average Speed product contains detailed average speed information which is calculated using over 135,000 vehicles with inbuilt trackers and GPS loggers and mixed-use vehicle fleet telematic data. OS MasterMap Highways Network with Speed Limits product contains detailed speed limits information based upon traffic signage. This product captures speed limit information and validates it through the following sources: • accident information, • telematics data, • FOI requests, • road layout logic, • local authorities and • an online visual tool that is used to manage the updates which is accessed by numerous trusted users.

OS MasterMap Highways Network extends the INSPIRE specification to include the additional properties of required by BS 7666-1:2006 defined within the NSG Data Transfer Format (DTF) and Scottish DTF (SDTF) to ensure that conformance to both INSPIRE and BS7666-1:2006 can be achieved. It is currently only available in British National Grid.
