(Kimmeridge Bay) Point 50.6141477208578 -2.18792338370602 WGS84 116999 Aglaophenia FALSE Not set Not set FALSE The trail follows a gully at the base of a small cliff face with overhanging kelp (Laminaria hyperborea). Large boulders form the other side of the gully. They are similary covered giving an enclosed feel to this section. Red algae on the rock face are becoming thicker, including Brongniartella byssoides and Dilsea carnosa, with a few anemones among them. NOTE: Substratum % data are converted from the original substratum 1-3 scoring system.

(Kimmeridge Bay) Point 50.6141477208578 -2.18792338370602 WGS84 116999 Aglaophenia FALSE O Not set FALSE At the base of the boulder slope, the trail flattens out and becomes more open, weaving between isolated boulders. Between these the seabed consists of cobbles and stones. The marked rock is flat topped, dominated by Halidrys with a little kelp and a range of small brown and red algae. Leopard spotted gobies can be found beneath the overhanging rock at the base of this and surrounding boulders. NOTE: Substratum % data are converted from the original substratum 1-3 scoring system.

(Kimmeridge Bay) Point 50.6141477208578 -2.18792338370602 WGS84 116999 Aglaophenia FALSE Not set Not set FALSE This is the last prominent boulder beyond the outer edge of the boulder slope where the distance between rocks is some several metres. The principle brown alga is Dictyopteris though, overall, red algae species are dominant. The vertical or overhanging sides support a wide variety of sponges (Dysidea and possibly Hymeniacidon), hydroids, worms and ascidians (particulary in crevices). The surrounding seabed is flat stony gravel. NOTE: Substratum % data are converted from the original substratum 1-3 scoring system.

(Kimmeridge Bay) Point 50.6141477208578 -2.18792338370602 WGS84 116999 Aglaophenia FALSE Not set Not set FALSE This small rock is surrounded by a large area of flat stony gravel with burrowing anemones (Cerianthus lloydii) and, in summer, a carpet of an Ectocarpus type algal growth. Small red algae such as Phyllophora grow over the rock. Although small, this rock has a particulary rich fauna with several strata of epifaunal growth. The hydroid Kirchenpauria is well represented here. NOTE: Substratum % data are converted from the original substratum 1-3 scoring system.
