Chester Archaeological Period Characterisations: Roman
LU_S_UADRoman_POLY_CURRENT
The Chester Archaeological Period Characterisations were created as part of the Chester Urban Archaeological Database (UAD) Project and encompass the Chester non parish area and civil parishes of Chester Castle and Great Boughton. The Chester Archaeological Period Characterisations were based primarily on archaeological evidence, rather than on the relatively recent historic urban development and are deliberately a broad brush characterisation for the given period. Chester is well known for its Roman archaeological resource; the fortress, the canabae and the Roman harbour at the Roodee all contribute to this important period in the history of the city
