Transport Direct (TD)

Transport Direct (TD) was Britain’s online journey planner, run by the Department for Transport. It closed in 2014 following the release of the Traveline National Data Set. TD mostly used data from other sources, such as Traveline, Ordnance Survey and ATOC. However, several data sets were produced for use by TD and some of these continue to be updated. In particular, NaPTAN is the standard for describing bus and other transport stops and NPTG is a set of GB localities optimised for journey planning and use alongside NaPTAN. Other data sets created for TD, such as Car Parks and Cycle Routes, are no longer updated but are provided here in case useful.
