Allow members of the public to report instances of illegal parking; on pavements, on cycle lanes. Mobile Apps could pinpoint the location on maps and multiple photos or videos could be uploaded to support it. This could then be redirected to the relevant authority responsible for the map location.

Not sure on the legality of members of the public shopping motorists; would it be permissible in court..?

US site in beta is nearest I've seen trying: http://www.parkingmobility.com

Accident waiting to happen

I wish to report a car which, on a daily basis parks between 12 feet and 15 feet of a major road junction, often parked on the wrong side of the road and which causes problems for traffic turning into the road which is narrow. My fear is that if an emergency vehicle was on a call and turned into the road it may not be able to pass the parked vehicle for a line of traffic coming in the opposite direction onto the main street.

The car is a grey Ford Mondeo Estate registered Number DY54 CJJ  and parks at the corner of Union Street, LN8 3AA and Queen Street, LN8 3EH in Market Rasen.

Report illegal parking

Blue VW Golf GTi H187 GJB parked right outside my driveway and being washed as well, if you please! When I mentioned it to the driver I said 'Can't you park anywhere else?' and he said 'I would if I had anywhere else to park it. Are you using the driveway at the moment?' When I said no, the hard-faced doorknob said, 'It's not a problem then is it?' So I asked if he lived in Dryleaze Road and he told me which house. I went to the post office to post a letter and when I came back noticed two clear spaces by his house, which I mentioned to him in a loud voice. He ignored me and carried on washing the car. It's been moved now but it was there for two hours.I could report it to the police in the future but the problem is they send community bobbies round even when I ask them not to and my husband doesn't want repercussions. I've moved my car forward to cover our drive a bit. We have a lot of cars ourselves but we always park responsibly and wouldn't dream of washing our car right outside someone else's driveway!

Report Illegal Parking

I actually like the American model where a percentage of the fine from reported violations are given to charity, seems like a good idea.

My major parking beef is with people who park in designated disabled parking bays unlawfully - Living in Edinburgh parking is very difficult, being disabled makes it more difficult in residential zones where after six in the evening it becomes a total free for all. We have a designated disabled bay close to our house and despite having a valid blue badge, rarely do we get to park there. Almost every car that parks in this bay does so unlawfully, but there is no enforcement and as far as I am aware no system to report these violations and have these inconsiderate drivers penalised.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

inconsiderate parking

An increasing number of commuters are now using residential roads for day-time parking because they 'can't afford car park charges'! They park opposite driveways and too close to main road junctions. Is it illegal, or does the highway code count for nought?

School Parking Blocking My Drive

School Parking Blocking My Driveway Again

A light coloured VW plumbing van registration M7 AKS parked across my driveway me in.  The school problem keeps occuring even when my

driveway is fitted with a dropped kerb and also 'H' bar. This school parking has been going on for a good number of years. (Say 7 years)

This school parking problem occurs consistently requires sorting out by the local council, police or highways dept. as the cars park all over

the place resulting in an access problem for all. Hope someone sorts this long standing issue out this time.

Parking on pavements

Can anybody tell me why uncaring drivers are allowed to park on the pavement. The man across the road constantly blocks access to the pavement with one of his cars. There is an elderly person living a few doors along who has an invalid scooter and cannot get past the car. Some months ago the car was blocking the pavement for six days and the police were not interested. This neighbour also blocks access to our driveway and we have been told we have no legal rights. Surely this needs to be included in the highway code so the police can take action.

illegal Parking

I am fed up with the number of cars and vans parking on the grass verge in Farrar St Kempston, it is churning up the grass and looks horrible.

Why are the local traffic enforment officers not doing anything about it?

Illegal Parking Fore Hill, Ely

Fore Hill, Ely CB7 4AA has double yellow lines on both side, but it is always occupied by cars and vans. This road is on hill and i find very very dificult to drive if someone is coming from other side.

kindly do the necssary to solve this problem.

This problem has been going on for about 7 / 8 years now but after a large number of complaint has not been resolved to this frequent

school parking problem.   Hope someone can sort this long standing problem out once and for all.

Parked across our driveway SN33BD Lennox Drive

Black Ford MK 4 parked during Preston North End V Swindon Town, registration R844 XEV. No parking permit and parked infront of a private drive way, the council have failed to deal with this situation which constantly occurs.

Parked across our driveway- CO15 3AQ

This Vehicle  WJ57 HNL constantly parks infront of our drive way beacuse it does not have a parking permit.

Site would be a great idea.

This would be a great idea for a site, and would probably make the Gov a fair bit of money.

R10 BRF - Double yellows most nights. Arthurstone terrace, dundee.  There is actually a car parking street round the next corner...less than 5meters from where you park...

After already communicating with the council and nothing being done, is this enough? How about all of the pictures of these cars? A picture of the Residents Only parking sign?

Being unable to find a space in your own car park is unacceptable. Having to park car your round the back at the pay and display spaces is unacceptable. People parking in no parking area close to the city centre (10 minute walk) so that they can avoid paying city centre parking charges is unacceptable.

Whats worse is ambulances have in the past been unable to pick up elderly residents far from their door as they cannot get past cars parked in the keep clear signed area, who I add, where NOT residents.

Blocked pavements DE73 6QU

As a resident I am becoming increasingly annoyed by people parking and completely blocking the pavement. This affects disabled and abled bodied people, people literally have to walk on the road to get past vehicles and those residents in wheelchairs are subject to oncoming vehicles. It is becoming ridiculous.

Illegally parked car

Illegally parked Mercedes EJ61 KRG parked on front yard at no 17 Markhouse Avenue, London E17 8AY. There is no dropped kerb for access to parking, the car overhangs and obstructs access to the pavement and the owner places their wheelie bins in the permit parking bays to stop permit payers parking there. I pay for a permit anualy and am being stopped from parking in a bay near to my home because the owner of this vehicle doesn't want to pay for a valid permit.

Illegal parking

I would like to make the local authority aware of the amount of cars illeaglly parked on Berry Road, Meltham, HD9 5PL, all belonging to the first house on the road which is some kind of care home? They have four cars half parked on the pavement and have no respect for residents living on the same road. I seldom am able to park outside my own house and it's becoming an absolute joke! Time something was done about this please!

illegally parked truck

CARTER SCAFFOLD - Y257XBN This vehicle is been parked illegally on a residential street for months. My neighbours & I have asked repeatedly for the driver, Paul not to park on the street as he is blocking access to our houses but he still parks. My neighbours on both sides are elderly & in poor health - one of them needs ambulance access each morning. Please do something to assist!! Update 21.11.12 - this vehicle is still parked illegally on this road & the driver shows no signs of removing it!!

Illegal Parking

38 Tytton Lane West Boston Lincs PE217HL. The householder of the above address is parking his car on the pavement outside his home. None if the vehicle is on the road, all tyres on the pavement. You have to go onto the road to get past as it is blocking a public pedestian path. Constant reoffender & very frustrating. The householder has a driveway which is clear so no need for him to do this.

Royal Mail illegal parking

I have encountered many royal mail vans in my local area parking illegally: abandoning their vans in the street blocking traffic; parking on the pavement blocking foot traffic; parking on double yellow lines. Complained to royal mail and have been ignored, despite the fact that one driver physically threatened me for pointing out he was breaking the law. I have taken numerous time and location stamped photos of this behaviour. Any ideas on how to get them to take seriously their obligation as a company to ensure their employees do not break the law?

Illegal parking on footpath/cycle path Bristol Horfield

The footpath/cycle path just next to Horfield sport centre has been used as "free parking" by obnoxious drivers all the time. They cause obstructions to pedestrians and cyclist and also restrict access to residents' driveways!!! So annoy. Please can someone help?

Blocked me on parking

Some one parked exactly next to me(which was a moving traffic lane) on 400 Kenton road outside only eggless cake shop and blocked me for 15mins.

I cannot move forward or backward.

Asian lady came out from shop laughing saying ohh I blocked you all.

I said yes you did..

And than she was angry and abusive.

Nearly knocked down twice

Glasgow: I have to walk a stretch of road everyday to get to the nearest train station. Only one side of the road has a pavement to walk on. Cars are constantly parked on here when they have their house nearby. The drivers obviously can't be bothered taking a simple turn so that they can park outside their homes and choose the pavement instead. I've had to walk onto oncoming traffic just to get by cars and vans. This morning some van was parked on a corner. It was either walk onto the dog foul and mud or walk on the road to get round. I chose the latter and just got missed by a bus. What if I was in a wheelchair? Or a mother with a pram and a small child walking beside me? Surely something must be done. One of these days I'm not going to be so lucky...

Pavement parking causing obstruction to pedestrians.

The occupants of 67 Farnborough Drive, Middlemore, Daventry are constantly parking their car on the public pavement outside the adjoining properties, making it very difficult for wheelchair & pushchairs to get by.

Illegal Parking

White ford escort small van parking outside 43 lowfield road , stockport . Van parks on double yellow lines + half on pavment  , this van also restrics access to my drive way .

How can i go about reporting this van so a warden will come round and issue a ticket ??\

thanks

lee

Double yellows

There are always cars parked infront of my sixth form on hawksbrook lane, br3 3be. there are multiple cars that havent got tickets and even a car parked illegally in a disabled spot... There are plenty of cars to ticket over here so if you are going to do something about one of them... Check the rest... Xmas coming up and this is a gold mine so come on down wardens... Make this Xmas a good one...

Van parked on Double Yellow Lines

There is a white van parked on double yellow lines on Valley road Liversedge since Friday12/10/12.

It is also obstrusting the safe exit of the road where I live hence double yellow lines.

Kings drive stoke gifford

Stoke gifford, bristol: All along kings drive there are cars parked on the pavment and it's disrupting flow of traffic. Not only that you couldn't get an emergency veichle down certan parts. People have spaces but cant be bothered to park there because that would mean they would have to open their gates. It's also annoyin if you drive a van and people park diagonally across the street e.g. One parked on left side ten a small space then one parked on the right. This needs to be sorted!!!

Lorries an large vans

On the 23/9/2012 at 09.45.market place was blocked due to lorry parking that was delivering to the co op...a national express coach couldn't get thru an neither could the stage coach bus...this caused a traffic jam...if a van couldn't get thru..how would a ambulance or fire engine get thru...this needs looking into as it's a disaster waiting to happen

Two horse box trailers parked on street

On Bryngolau street in Llanelli there are two horse box trailers parked on pavement which are a pain for current residents as there isn't enough room for visitors as it is & residents are finding it extremely hard to park their own vehicles in their drive, also residents have drives so there isn't an excuse really.

illegal parking of vehicle

Swansea: Adelaide street next to exchange building. Silver Ford repeatedly in keep clear zone, this is obstructing refuse collection from the designated area and therefore a build up of rubbish bags. Car registration V139KCY.

Manor House Street, Horncastle

Manor House Street, Horncastle, LincolnshireThis is a car-parked-illegally blackspot. Yes, some of the drivers who park are drivers that have a Blue Disabled Parking Badge, but most are not. It is a signle (sometimes double) yellow line (which is a parking ban, but not an unloading ban) between 8am and 6pm, but everybody ignores this. Everytime I go down there, I see cars parked on this yellow line without a Blue Badge. It annoys me that people cannot park somehwere else. I would say that cars with a Blue Badge down here are committing an offence by causing an obstruction to traffic. Lorries can't get don there and neither can big 4x4s without going onto the kerb, which begs the reason why there isn't double-yellow lines all the way down that street.

I wish a blanket ban on

I wish a blanket ban on pavement parking was brought in outside of London.  As a pedestrian, I am so sick of having to squeeze past cars parked by selfish people who would rather park directly outside their house than park a bit further away and walk.

neighbours car parked on pavement obstucting right of way

instead of parking on his/her driveway they are parking up on the pavement obstucting public right of way.

Fix My street looks good-

Fix My street looks good- could someone verify whether this is supported by the government & / or councils to whom it reports?

Parking is awful in my street, but what is even worse is that some of us have garages accessed by gates in the street- there are signs saying it is illegal to block them but people are forever blocking us in. My neighbour is not a very nice person and once he blocked me in so I couldn't get to work and when I knocked on his door and to ask if he could move it (it was quite a reasonable time of day and there were plenty of spaces) the moment he answered the door he started shouting verbal abuse about me and my family. He eventually moved the car after my mother, who heard him shouting, threatened to phone the police, but since then I've been too frightened to do anything even when I know (though have no proof) that he has not only scratched my car twice but also slashed one of my tyres. I have a history of social-anxiety problems and his petty intimidations sometimes make me physically sick and afraid to either leave the house or come home at night. It sounds ridiculous but I don't know what to do, the local police's website don't have any category for it at all.

parking on the kerb

I actually got shouted at for not parking on the kerb today lol,

Drop Kerb + Driveway Parking

This would only help if the local councils and the highway agency would address these problems of parking, and not sweep them under the table.

Parking in Hemel Hempstead is a joke. london was bad enough and now its happening here. I would love to show my pictures of drivers that can not read signs

and just park in front of my driveway and on a dropped kerbs, the police will not do anythink about it and tell you is a highway problem contact them, and then the Highway agency tell you to contact your local council. Will someone take control and deal with the problem.

Im trying to get double yellow lines put in and permit parking but again No one whats to get involved.

Yesterday 21st December it all kicked again with next door telling us that she has rights to park on my private property and a drop kerb keep clear sign.

What planet do these people come from.

This idea would be great, no more fighting over the parking places just send the council the details and get them to send a parking fine out. If the local council want help "I WILL BE THE FIRST IN LINE" to support this.

FixMyStreet does something

FixMyStreet does something similar:
http://www.fixmystreet.com/

as does the CycleStreets Photomap, e.g.
http://www.cyclestreets.net/photomap/tags/mcl/

and STOP SMIDSY for reporting dangerous driving which affects other road users:
http://www.stop-smidsy.org.uk/

fixmystreet is not really helpful

fixmystreet is not really helpful. I reported a large van parked right on the corner of a t-junction and half on the pavement. The council replied saying "Because there are no yellow lines at this location, the Council Parking Attendants can not deal with this vehicle. They can only issue Penalties to vehicles situated on a marked parking restriction such as single or double yellow lines. This is definitely a matter for Tayside Police as the driver is committing various Traffic offences which result in Police fixed penalties and points on the driver’s licence. For example - obstruction of the public footway and parking too close to a road junction, both of which are Traffic offences and, therefore, still criminal offences. Council Parking Attendants can only deal with civil parking offences such as I described above, along with contraventions in pay and display bays and disabled bays. At this point in time only the Police can deal with this driver’s continual bad parking at that location. I contacted my local police station and guess what… nothing has been done!

Something similar on fixmystreet

Fix My Street includes concepts of "abandoned vehicle" and "parking" as problems that can be reported. I've used the iPhone app and found it very useful (especially when children's crossing points are made more dangerous by lazy parking). The report can include GPS position, a photo, a description, a date, and optionally the identity of the reporter.

Report Illegal Parking

Perhaps an app that reports the location, but no other details would be acceptable. From this the data could either be transmitted live to a warden, and/or submitted to a database to monitor trends and identify problem areas.
As far as recording details are concerned, and including photos there is no law to prohibit this, as the location is public and the expectation of privacy is reduced in public, however, because you can does not mean you should, so I think an app that can pinpont locations so authorities can take their own action is better.
This type of app is within my skill set.

I think this is an excellent

I think this is an excellent idea as it would provide me with the means to keep wardens distracted from my own illegal parking by sending them to other places! ;-)
