Dear Gill,
With the availability of statistics from the NHS and from groups including that for the West Midlands it should be possible to derive trip data assuming travel from home. In the future if the location of the incident is other than home that data would help.
Such trip analysis would enable the range of travel distances to be determined and it would help SHAs, PCT and Trusts to not only model demand travel but also to determine where new consolidated A&E units could be located in the future.
