latent power of NHS data
I work for an NHS organisation called the Commissioning Business Service which utilises data from the Secondary Uses Service (SUS) - a data repository, administered by BT, where a bunch of key NHS datasets are made available. We use the data to provide reporting and analysis to organisations throughout the North West. Unfortunately for us, BT have designed the data extraction method with low volume users in mind. This makes data acquisition a very manual, arduous, and error prone task and effectively renders, what could be a powerful data source, largely untapped and latent.
Communication with SUS and BT is proving pointless with regard to freeing up the data, so have arrived at places like this to ask for ideas in circumventing this problem - names of people to write to, organisations to approach, that kind of thing.

There is a service just starting at www.flexreports.com which is aiming to allow public bodies to manage data, analyse and report. They are looking for beta testers...give them a shout they may be able to help.
