Combined "entitled to" Attendance Allowance & DLA data by care & mobility component by ageband (at various geographies)
DLA & AA are essentiall the same benefit, depending on the age of application. The care components match (eg higher AA / Highest DLA Care). There are 3 additional components of DLA (if claimed before 65 years, which can then be paid for life) - DLA mobility higher / lower; and DLA Care (lower). Request the combined data be available in excell format for each combined equivalent DLA/ AA care rate by age band.
Request ageband data (as above) at upper & lower tier LA level for age bands <16, 16 -64, 65-74, 75 - 84, 85+.
Request ageband data (as above) at LSOA (Lower Super Output) level for age bands <16, 16 -64, 65+.
Request annual data (as above) for August 2001 to August 2010 be provided if possible.
This data will be of interest to Local Authorities, the health community, volunyary sector and some members of the public.
The data is useful for understanding numbers of people with serious functional disabilities, numbers with a need for personal care, numbers virtually unable to walk. It is important data that should be available for health, social care, wellbeing, and other service planning, equality impact needs assessments, Joint Strategic Needs Assessments, etc.

We publish LSOA statistics for both AA and DLA at http://83.244.183.180/NESS/BEN/iben.htm on a quarterly basis. This contains age and rate breakdowns, but not a two-way breakdown of age/rate.
We publish the Tabulation Tool at LA level (http://83.244.183.180/100pc/tabtool.html). We allow breakdowns by age and by rate. However, again, both these breakdowns are not available at the same time.
We are always looking at ways of improving the wholesale dissemination of our statistics and provision of data such as this. However, at the moment we have no immediate plans to produce these breakdowns."
