Wrasse fishery data
As part of the management measures, an intensive data collection programme was introduced in 2017 to capture temporal and spatial trends in catch per unit effort (CPUE). This involves the collection of landings data recorded by fishers and IFCA officers carrying out onboard observer surveys. The data obtained is used to compile a report which is presented to the byelaw sub-committee and helps to inform the future management of the fishery.

Data is collected by Devon and Severn IFCA during the open season .The observer surveys record in depth data such as species, sex, length and whether the individual is spawning. Locations of strings are also recorded via a handheld GPS. Fishers are also required to complete landings forms for every day fished detailing the location of the string, how many pots and how many fish were landed. The data is then used to run statistical analyses and a report is produced for the byelaw sub committee
