Geological Conservation Review sites (New Forest) - UNDER REVIEW
The Geological Conservation Review (GCR) is the selection process used to systematically identify the key geological sites in Great Britain. Although, the main phase of the GCR took place between 1977 and 1990, the series consists of a large suite that continues to be reviewed. Sites selected by the GCR are eligible to be considered for designation as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) The data provided here shows the locations and boundaries of GCR sites in the New Forest. The source data for the location and boundary for each GCR site is the line drawn on a 1:10,000 OS map during a field survey of the site to determine a suitable boundary. Each boundary was digitised and now forms part of this dataset.
